A rather sick laurel bush/tree

Hi I have inherited a rather ancient Laurel (some  branches 12" plus in diameter) which has an ever increasing amount of white fungus on the  branches. Can you help me please ,treatment or extraction? Here are some images . Many thanks   Olwen

I would saw it  down to about 6” from the ground,  it will be up like a bush by the end of summer.
We had similar, they love a good cut.

  • Gosh that was an amazingly quick response thanks .  Do you recognise the fungus? It's not on all branches  . The base trunk must be 4to 5ft across, its EEEnormous .

I’m not good on fungus, maybe it’s a lichen.
I know how big they grow, people don’t realise when they plant those little saplings.

If you can’t tackle it low down just do each individual trunk, any thing will help.
