Vine weevil grubs

Hi all. Just found vine weevil grubs in a planter with primula and daffodils. 2 of the primula are done for so do I need to remove the others? And the daffodils? Assume grubs will then just starve?

I would tip the soil out somewhere sunny, so that the birds can get to them, and to be sure they are killed off.  You don't want them loitering in the pot, and munching on anything new that you put in there, or risk them becoming adult beetles and continuing the cycle.

The little devil 😈 some of our pots that had Lillie's in had them and NO lily bulbs!

There is enough bits in the compost for them to survive.
Last year I found them inside my hyacinth bulbs so dont assume they just eat through roots.

Nasty wee beasties! I have found a good way of controlling weevils and other soil-based pests is to water the plants with tea and coffee. This contains caffeine, plus other good nutrients. They don't like it up 'em.
You can also add the grounds to the soil around susceptible plants, especially pot plants, for long-term control. Good luck!

Hope you haven't emptied it onto a border as they will re-bury themselves.

No, onto patio, right next to the bird table. Pigeons were all over it just now. Have moved surviving primulas to a small pot and we will see how they do.

If you have any other pots it might be worth checking them over . I found one miniscule one when l was checking over plants in my coldframe last week. Nematodes are on order for when the milder weather comes.
