My clay soil is super heavy

  • @Fire I sectioned off an area last year (approx 2 x 4m). My mother in law gave me loads of plants from her garden as she wants to reduce her garden maintenance. I dug everything over (bloody back breaking!!), then planted her 2 hydrangeas, camellia, a rose and some others that I’ve got not idea what they are 🙈. She only lives down the road in the same town so I just assumed her soil would be the same as ours?!!
Do you think it would be worth removing everything and digging the soil again? They are producing buds, so the soil must be able to sustain some life 😂

No!!! If they are happy, leave them. You can mulch to improve the soil. If your plants are healthy, your soil isn't too bad. It's  when they die you have to take steps....
  • Thank you @Posy !! Gosh....I’ve so much to learn 🤪

Yes, it's good to leave your soil in peace to settle down. Add lots of compost and manure if you can.
