Oxalis dying?

Hello!

I recently brought an Oxalis (Fake shamrock) it was fine for almost a month, but one day it just looked very droppy and after a few days hasnt improved.

I think maybe its infected with something since the leaves have the funny colour and pattern happening to it.

Please help!

Can you tell us about the watering regime please?

Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.

  • Yes of course!
I water it about once a week, but I did notice that the last time I watered it a couple of days later it was already dry again. So I rewatered it.

Maybe Im not giving it enough water?

What I have done in the past is cut off all the leaves, shaken everything out of the pot, sort out the best of the tubers and lay them on the new compost about halfway up the pot you have and then cover with more compost to the top.
Water and wait and fairly soon you will have a pot filled with new leaves!

If that is too drastic for you just cutting off all the leaves would also work!

It is a difficult plant to kill,I emptied some old tubers and soil into my compost bin many years ago and after spreading the compost around I still have Oxalis triangularis coming up in various parts of the garden.

I think I might have to do something like that as the leaves look a but funny. Thank you!!

I bought two last year, both treated the same way and on the same windowsill. One went dormant in the winter but is now growing again, the other kept growing and flowering all winter. I've no idea why.
Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Soil type: sandy, well-drained
