Is there hope for my peony?

Hi everyone, i have a question about a peony please. I planted a tuber last year in the ground but saw no eyes when all my others have sprouted so i investigated and think I'd planted too deeply. I moved it at the weekend and the tuber had no eyes but did have many very red but very fine roots, not much thicker than fine thread but in a very vibrant colour.  I'm not hopeful it'll get eyes this year but stuck it in a pot - are there any chances it will still at least get eyes next year? Thanks.

Not all of my peonies sprout at the same time. Some are definitely slower to get going than others and have only just started to show. It’s hard to advise as to whether it was too deep but if quite newly planted it may have just been taking its time. They are happier in the ground so I would get it planted back into the garden, am sure it will get going soon.
