Is there a problem?

The photo shows a few leaves that have fallen from a Daphne Odora variegata.  It was planted last year in a sheltered south facing bed and seems to have settled, as it is now flowering and has new growth.  Do the leaves signify a problem of some kind?
Thank you.

All evergreen shrubs lose leaves. Hard to tell without seeing the whole plant but if you have new growth that's a positive.
  • I spent quite a while panicking about this two weeks ago after a Daphne I'd planted developed similar-looking leaves and shed them a few weeks after planting. I believe it is merely stress caused by transplanting, as they hate moving. Advice was to mulch it well and keep it well watered (but not soggy) all through the growing season to help it repair the lost roots. Mine is looking a bit better already, though it did lose its lower leaves.

If the leaves stay yellow like that then it has a Magnesium deficiency. In which case water with Epsom Salts to redress the imbalance.

Thank you for your comments.  I took these photos of the plant this afternoon.  Sorry, the pictures are upside down though!
