Potting on Chillis / peppers

This is my first year to get really interested in veg growing. I'm not sure about transferring these chilli and pepper seedlings.

With my tomatoes I put them in modules at this stage, buried up to their leaves, then same again when moving to individual pots. This seemed to work well and I have nice sturdy plants.

I think I read that some plants don't like their stems being buried like this though?

They will all be going out in the poly tunnel eventually.

We have chillies sown indoors and growing well.
They will be planted out into our polytunnel some weeks later.
They are a great deal ahead of yours so don't do anything about yours yet, still too young.
I don't know about the stems being buried as each year we have just planted them out once they are a good size and they have grown and produced a good crop.

Ok thanks, when do you sow yours? Do you just sow them in pots or move after sowing in seed tray or something?

It's a good idea to pot on toms buried up to the first pair of leaves - you don't need to do that with chillies. Don't try to move your seedlings until they have a pair of true leaves (the first ones that appear AFTER those they have now, which are 'seed' leaves. A little while yet

Capsicums also respond really well to being regularly potted-on into the next size pot while they develop, and don't like being put into their final size pot when still small.  I start mine in small modules, and when the roots start coming out of the bottom, they go into 7cm pots.  Once the roots reach the sides of those, they go into 11 or 12cm for a couple of weeks before being planted into their final pots.
A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.
