‘Perennial’ foxgloves?

I came across some potted foxgloves in the garden centre labelled as ‘perennial’ foxgloves.. but I always thought that foxgloves are biennials.. and they would then set seed and die. Is there such a thing as a perennial foxgloves that would flower year after year (from the same plant)?

They have recently (last 10 years or so) bred perennial foxgloves by crossing the biennial one with one from the canary islands which is perennial.  Digitalis x mertonensis if you want to look it up

I have some (think they are called something like Summer King) that are now on their 4th year.  They are shorter than our native foxglove, but very pretty

I have Foxglove Carillon and this is definitely perennial. I've had it come back for a few years and can see new growth there now.

D.parviflora and |D.ferruginea are both perennial, and I think rather lovely.
How can you lie there and think of England

I've grown x mertonensis and they've very nice. A good choice if you want one in a container for a couple of years or so.

    Digitalis lutea is also perennial.
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.

Wow I didn’t know there are so many varieties of perennial foxgloves.. I wish I had known that before I sowed the annual / biennial ones..
