How to prevent powdery mildew in Portuguese Laurel hedge?

Hi.  New leaves are beginning to appear on our Portuguese Laurel hedge and I'm thinking how I can make sure the hedge doesn't get covered in powdery mildew this year.  It happened last year and when I then sprayed with an anti-fungal (for powdery mildew) it was too late, it didn't get rid of the mildew, and the leaves looked a sorry sight for the rest of the spring and summer.

So can I do something in advance to make sure powdery mildew doesn't get a grip on the hedge again this year?

Thanks.

Powdery mildew usually occurs when the plant is stressed by drought. Lots of water (a good soaking) along the root area two or three times a week, every week from now until mid September should give you a rejuvenated hedge. 😊
