Himalayan Birch - snow queen

Bought a lovely snow queen at the beginning of the year but although it has buds and katkins ready to open (which it already had when delivered) nothing seems to be happening with it - I have watered it well every few days if we haven't had a deluge - anyone got one coming into leaf yet or am I just getting ahead of myself? Thanks

It's still only March ! Be patient.  ;)

  • Lol - I know, it's just that all my other trees are bursting forth! I'll try - thank you
  • I bought 'Grayswood Ghost' as a young tree in late autumn - around 3ft high at present - and its buds are only just showing a slight break in them. The warm weather forecast over the next few days should bring everything on a little bit and may coax yours into action.

My birch got a good soaking after planting, followed by a 4" mulch, but I have not watered it since then as the ground is not dry. Could your watering regime be flooding yours?

I'm sure my Himalayan birch are very late to leaf up. They don't have much activity at the moment.
