Reducing height of fir tree

I have a silver fir tree in my front garden which is about 14 feet tall. I would like to reduce it in height to prevent it getting too tall and dominating the garden. Is it ok to cut about 2 feet off the very top, and trim the upper branches to keep it’s Christmas tree shape? Or will this damage it’s future growth?

    Welcome to the forum.
Taking the top out will, I'm afraid, spoil the shape.
It may well put out 2 "leaders" which will make it look even worse

It'll look horrendous ... I'm sorry but with that sort of tree you just have to let them grow and then fell them and replace with something else.

Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
