laurel bay leaves damage

coccinellacoccinella Posts: 1,428
Good morning. I have just removed the winter protection from my laurel and on some leaves there is this problem.  It is only on a few leaves and mainly on the side that was most exposed to the cold winds. The laurel sits in a big pot on a southwest facing balcony. I have removed all the damaged leaves. Should I spray with epsom salts? What do you think?

That just looks like frost/wind burn rather than any kind of nutrient deficiency.  I'd just give it a general feed as normal, something like Fish, Blood and Bone fertilizer, tickled into the surface of the pot.

Looks like cold damage to me.  Try giving it a liquid feed of something with lots of nitrogen for leafy plants and then give it a month or two for new leaves to form.  If they or other healthy leaves are yellow then try a feed of Epsom salts - 15ml dissolved in 5 litres of water and used as a foliar feed or root feed.  Whichever's easier.
