Restoring an old grass tennis court
Hi, we’ve just moved into a house that has a very flat front lawn that used to be a lawn tennis court ~15 years ago. It is perfectly flat and the right dimensions, but is currently overgrown with moss and a bit squidgy. My son and I play a lot of tennis so I’m keen to restore it to a top quality court if possible, but I’m a complete novice gardener (can just about use a lawn mower). So tips please, please. I am thinking: get rid of moss, reseed with ryegrass, compact it with a roller. Water twice weekly, cut it nice and short once mature and put some lines on. I’m kind of guessing here. Do I need to aerate it or add sand or anything of that sort? Many thanks for tips.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but, as the above link shows and as I can attest to having been a member for several years at a grass lawned tennis club, it's a full time job.
Hitting a passer by or a dog or car with a tennis ball could get you into trouble!
You won't be aiming for Wimbledon standards but I would get a firm in that looks after grass, Green Thumb or similar. They will give you advice and have all the right equipment to repair it. Then you can take over later.
