It's Akebia quinata or Chocolate vine.  Semi evergreen according to the RHS but isn't in my garden. It can be quite rampant but I find it easy to control.

  • Thank you very much.
I have recently moved house and inherited an originally well planted garden, but many plants have been left unpruned and outgrown their space and I am waiting to identify them before I renovate or remove.
  • Always a good idea! Do post some pictures if you want more IDs and suggestions. And enjoy your new garden.

Sometimes known as Chocolate Vine as the flowers smell of chocolate.  Can grow huge so needs pruning to keep it tidy.
