IKEA Hyllis shelving mini greenhouse hack

Instead of fitting top shelf, fix 2 60cm battens. Then fit Hyllis clear plastic covers. This makes a very cheap and sturdy mini greenhouse.

How sturdy are they? £7 seems like a good price for galvanised shelving for the greenhouse.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

They're pretty good. They're just screwed together but as long as you don't sit on them - the metal is a bit pliable - they'd be fine.

That looks good. Won’t the metal get too hot in full sun?

I doubt it. They'll be cleared away by June anyway I hope!

Great idea and I've been looking for shelving for my polytunnel but it only comes in a 4 shelf height here, with or without plastic cover

Might be a bit high so tape measure out tomorrow.

I use chrome bathroom shelving in my porch. It's narrow enough but gives a little height
    In London. Keen but lazy.

£7 for the shelving unit, £2 for the cover, or £9 for both  ;)

They do say it can be used as a greenhouse, but the top shelf blocks the light from above.
