Help for a Newbie please

I'm growing fruit and veg for the first time this year.  I have planned out my plot (limited space) and so far so good.  I have just hit my first real snag.  You regular raspberry growers will realise that you cant grow them in a one foot deep border (don't laugh).  I have planted 5 canes against a south facing fence with a raised bed in front of them.  I now understand that I will have to remove them because of the way they spread. 

My question is what can I replace them with. Hope someone can help.
