Seedlings turning brown

Hi. I recently planted
my free GW echinacea seeds and they came on fine initially, but have now gone a shade of brown. Instructions were to ‘keep moist’ but my guess is I’ve overwatered? The compost is damp but I’ve actually not watered them for a while. They did get a soak a couple of weeks back. They’ve been in a coldframe. Could they be rescued... or do I be ruthless and start again?

l think a cold frame isn't warm enough for them at this time of year. It looks like time to start again
Do you have a kitchen windowsill or somewhere indoors where you can grow them on and give them light and warmth? Also with regards to watering, wait until the compost feels dry and l would water from below if you can. When the compost starts to glisten with moisture, take them out. Seedlings are very prone to overwatering and can rot easily if you're not careful. It's a fine balancing act.
