Planting with patio fruit trees

Good morning everyone
I have a mixture of dwarf fruit trees in large planters, can I plant bedding plants in the same planter under the fruit trees to add some colour? If not can I plant anything in the same planter to add interest and colour? Big thanks for advice given.

I understand why you want to make the containers more attractive, and to avoid seeing bare soil, however fruit trees are hungry and thirsty.  As they are in pots, they will be fighting for water, nutrients and space with whatever else you plant there, so it's best avoided.

You could cover the bare soil with a decorative mulch (pebbles for example), but make sure to keep this clear of the stem of the trees, to avoid rot.
  • Big thanks for advice.. Ill look into some nice decorative pebbles I think

I stand pots with flowers in on top  the soil around the stems, hopefully will attract more pollinators when the trees flower.
Hyacinths look good atm, but don't plant in the same pot.
Not sure how well it works,  just trying for better crop than last year.

  • Ooh another great idea.. Big thanks
