Tree taken down ...

On Monday my partners Dad took it upon himself to cut down a small tree I was looking forward to see blossom and some other branches etc.  I actually had taken a photo of the tree on the Sunday and can see quite clearly now it’s been hacked down. (I’ve attached a couple of photos) This really upset me and still is.  We’ve tried to tell him to stop  taking things down but it’s still happening. He just brushed it off and didn’t even apologise when we said we hadn’t wanted it down. We are currently renovating the garden and want to watch it grow not take everything out. Has anyone else had this happen ? Am I overreacting ?  I just think a garden is so personal and other people shouldn’t take it upon them to do that. 🪴😔

Hide all the tools when he comes and tell him firmly that whilst your pleased he wants to help he must please not to do anything without asking first.  It's your garden.

Maybe your partner could explain how much you were looking forward to seeing the blossom, even if it was ‘in the wrong place’ and suggest that contributions towards a spring flowering tree to plant in your garden ‘in the right place’ would be a lovely gesture that he would appreciate so that his partner is happy again?

These things happen sometimes .., even with the best will in the world ... one person’s flower is another person’s weed. You have only to read the threads here for a few days to see that ... it’s not worth falling out about ... but in future supervise people with cutting equipment in your garden (maybe except the lawnmower).  Hopefully one day it’ll be like one of those funny family stories that are told years later around the Christmas dinner table.

    Families eh? 😉

Nice area. Only one photo has appeared so can't see the after effect.
Have you been there a year then to know it blossoms or did you plant it?
There seems to be a mesh fence in front so is it even yours?
Just hope your partners Dad doesn't start 'helping' inside the house as well!
