Is this box blight? (New here)

Hi, new here and new to gardening...have spent quite a few £s on buxus balls and hedging recently. However have noticed two (which aren’t next to each other but close to other balls) have started with brown patches. Is this box blight? Panicking about it spreading! If it is, am I best to remove before it spreads? Or try and treat? Any advice would be gratefully received! Thank you!

Hi Sarah - welcome to the forum🙂

Could be blight, could be other fungal disease, could be frost damage, could be other environmental stress damage (lack of water, food etc) so we need to see a couple of photos to be able to assess which it is.

You can upload photos by clicking on the picture link in the menu bar.

I think it's due to stress, you usually see it on box plants at the end of Winter especially if they've dried out over the previous Summer.
    Lots of information here

Personally, I would trim out the worst sections and make sure they are fed and watered over the Summer  :)
  • Thank you so much for the advice, very relieved to read you don’t think it is box blight!
