Garrya elliptica collapsed

My lovely 20 year old garrya collapsed under the weight of snow in February.  Should I prune it to the ground and hope it shoots again? Photo attached but it insists on appearing upside down!

If the stem has split under the ground it's beyond help, if not you could try lifting it back up, firming it in again  providing a support and reduce the height by a third or remove a few branches and see how it goes.
Pruning to the ground will be too much of a shock

That's a good point, thanks - I'll see how it looks.
