**Update** I managed to relocate the Acers using some (very temporary) accommodation (clean recycling bags). I dug out the roots with as much soil as I could manage not to disturb (and lift). I gave up on finding really big pots and replanted them in the new garden. So far so good, they have both started new leaves. I'm keeping them watered and will look at feeding them when I can get to the GC.
Growing old is mandatory but growing up is optional.
My phormium has lost is stripy colours and is predominately green. As it has gotten too big I will cut it back but will the colour come back with new growth. If not I will probably take it out all together.
