Hebe buds / pruning

Hello, 

Inexperienced gardener here. 

I bought this hebe from the reject section at B&Q, and I can see it's leggy.

I've read that a light prune this time of year is generally helpful for hebes? If so, may I ask: is this a bud I'm looking at in the photo, or is it a new leaf unfurling? 'Cos I'm not sure where to trim it...

    Looks like a leaf to me. Judging from the size of leaves to the stems, it needs a fair bit of growing until flowers will form. Hebes can take light pruning at anytime during the warm weather.

    Hi Velvet, what a lovely little Hebe you’ve got there :smile: to be honest for now I would just leave it to grow, if it does flower this year by all means deadhead, perhaps only to the next set or two, pair of leaves down the stem.
