Replanting the same rose in the same pot/place

Hi all,

I have recently acquired some potted roses from my parents' garden. The pots were too heavy to move so I dug the roses out and moved the pots and the plants separately. I then replanted the roses back in their original pots along with their original soil.

I've looked everywhere and read a lot about replant disease, but I can't seem to establish if the disease would affect a rose that has been dug up and replanted in the exact same location (probably because it's not a common thing to do!).

Similarly, I had a rose bush that was too close to a hebe and I replanted it about a foot to the left. Would this be affected by replant disease?

Many thanks!

Tom

Not sure that question can be answered but if the rose doesnt thrive then you will need to replace the soil.

Regarding the pots, depending on how recently they were potted by your parents, they may need a fresh layer of compost added to the top. You don't need to worry about RRD. Same goes for the rose by the hebe, it will be fine. Just make sure you keep it watered so that it doesn't dry out while it reestablishes.
  • Thanks both! That's really helpful, very much appreciated :)
