Fritillaria imperialis movement!

I planted my 3 Fritillaria imperialis bulbs in the autumn and have never touched the patch of earth where I planted them, now they have come up in a completely different place than I planted them, does anyone know if something moves them under the earth as no signs on top of digging or cat scratching ....... infact the soil looks the same as when I planted them ......??

    Squirrels?
  • Yes i thought it could be them but wouldn’t there be some signs of them digging & then they would have to replant to a depth of 4inches....... very baffling🤔

Squirrels pat down the earth when they bury something. They are very good at moving bulbs around the garden and planting conkers in the lawn and they leave no trace of their activity until the plants appear in spring.
  • Thank you, mystery over👍 I’ve noticed some of my alliums coming up in different places too.
It’s a newly planted garden so maybe when plants take hold & mature the squirrels won’t have such an easy job. Many thanks.
  • It’s nice to know you can get squirrel garden designers. I may try that. Were yours expensive, @Lavandergirl?
  • Very cheap really ...... and they work silently at night ...... I would recommend if you don’t mind playing a guessing as to where your bulbs might be🤣
