Garden pond

We've moved to a new house and we have 3 streams running into a pond which then flows into a river.  The pond is thick with sludge and mud .. what's the best way to clean it out? I'd be grateful for any ideas or help - thanks!

Could we have a photo to judge the size, accessibility and any planting there maybe.

my guess is that it'll be as hard, and as messy and smelly as you're imagining it
    Devon.
  • Yes, photos please.  If you have a river adjoining - you'll have to talk to your local rivers authority folk! They can be helpful or a pain in the neck, sometimes both at the same time. They are very fussy about anything escaping from your ponds and running off downstream despite that probably happening in the past.
