Planter for tree fern

Hey guys about 3 years ago I made a 100cm h X 70cm X 70cm wooden planter from 1cm thick T and G and some treated 2in X 4in that was another structure in the garden. The treated old wood is fine the t and g is not. I wasn't expecting it to rot this quick, I think it has a year or 2 life at most.

Any ideas what to make planter from that will give it longer life? I don't want to plant it in the ground as I hope to move one day and would love to take it with me.

I think I may have gone overboard with the size what size would be ideal for a 4ft tall fern?

One last thing when I put the germ in I used compost, soil and bark mix was that right? Also the surface layer of bark I put on at 5cm or so think has rotted quicker than I thought. Is that good or bad?

Did you use a plastic liner with a few holes in?

Yes I did Joe. I've only looked at the top t and g board from inside and that's soft and got white stuff on it. The lower ones from outside are not as soft but I'd say outside is fairly good still. If it wasn't to unsuccessfully try to level planter as it's sunk on a corner I'd have not noticed
