Buried compacted path.

New to gardening and as I was digging up a patch of overgrown weeds I came across a buried compacted path. Lots of sand and as I dug further I found what looks like loose grey concrete(?) as the foundation. I think I know the answer to this but could I dig it into the soil rather than try to dig it up and dispose of it? It's going to be a hell of a job removing it.

It depends what you want to grow there. The sand won't be a problem, but concrete/cement is limy so you wouldn't be able to grow eriaceous plants there.
Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Soil type: sandy, well-drained
  • Thanks JennyJ. Not sure what is going there yet...the world is my oyster but getting just the grey stuff out will be much easier so I won't be limited when I get to plant.
