Revive erigeron plant

Afternoon all!

My erigon plant is looking a little worse for wear after winter so I'm looking for advice on how to revive it. Any tips would be greatly appreciated, thanks :-)

  • There will be fresh new foliage coming from the base of the plant. Just pull the thatch apart and look inside to see it. Cut back to fresh new growth and it will fill out in no time. I've got dozens of these plants and that's what I do.

Just cut out all the dead growth.  It will soon come back. Once you have erigeron in your garden you have it forever, popping up in all sorts of crooks and crannies.  I love it!

One of mine is also totally dead after this winter. It's survived the last few winters very well but this one finished it off. Luckily I potted up a lot of seedlings in the greenhouse last year so it will live on. Always a good backup plan if it doesn't start naturalising in your garden.

Out of interest, does anyone's erigeron stay green all the way through a mild winter and spring? Does it count as "evergreen"?

They don't stop flowering in the unheated greenhouse over the winter. They must be very borderline hardy here though.

Yes, mine does. It got a bit knackered by the very low temperatures we had earlier this year, but every previous year they've pretty much stayed green and eve  had the odd flower on throughout.
