Laurels not growing, please help!

Hi,

Hope everyone is safe and well.

i moved into a house a few years ago and there was a row of lurels (i think they are laurels). The ones on the right are strong but as you go further down the house they get smaller, weaker and less green. I dont know why they arent growing and would appreciate some advice! They look a bit diseased but so do the others and im not 100% sure they arent newer plants and maybe need to get established. I have attached photos and would be very grateful of some help.

Thanks in advance!

Possibly the taller ones are nearer the house and therefore in more shade and the soil doesnt dry out so much?  I'd feed with Fish, Blood & Bone (the whole hedge) and water well ...... then from April until late September I'd give the hedge a thorough soaking two or three times a week (more in warm dry spells).  The equivalent of two buckets full of water per plant, each time.  Pour it on the soil slowly so it soaks in and doesn't run off the surface of the soil.  Or use a drip hose for two or three hours every other evening.

  • Thanks very much for your advice! I do have a watering system i got last year, so i may use it for this.
