fruit trees.

good morning all. hope i have posted in the right place . could i get some advice please never grown fruit trees before i am not looking to plant apple e t c.just raspberry/gooseberry and alike and best time to plant . have they got to be far apart or as close as i can get them limited on space you see. any help would be greatly accepted .best regards peter.

    Hi Peter.
    Gooseberry and Raspberries are bushes, the first can be kept more compact but Raspberries will need support, such as a fence, as they grow big ( after 2/3 years they can be 5 foot across) but not deep maybe a foot. So depends on what space you have, but now is the best time to plant.

    good morning purplerallim.thank you for reply do you have any preference or best ones to purchase all very new to me.and best ways to plant compost e.t.c. thanks again peter.

    Fruit bushes are hungry plants, so if your soil is ok can be planted and then spread with manure around the plant (not touching the stem)
    For early fruit Polka seems popular or Autumn Bliss both raspberries I haven't grown, but others on here recommend . The raspberry is a hardy plant and as long as its watered in its first year will settle and then produce in its second, just make sure you read the information on each one to ensure its what you want in the long run.😁
