    @pmr216,  glad you like them, I should have said the formal name is "Prunus cerasifera 'Nigra' (Latin for black or dark leaved - not meant to be offensive). Other cherry trees I like is Prunus 'Amanagowa' (tall narrow type) or Prunus subhirtella 'Autumnalis (winter flowering cherry in mild winter weather, white or pink dainty blossom).
    Another good small tree much recommended on here is Amelanchier.

    One further point, trees give greater coverage the nearer the house, they don't necessarily have to be planted near the boundary.
