Apricot/plum hybrid advice please!

I am wondering if I could manage an apricot/plum hybrid in my garden. I have a south facing fence which I could fan train it against, but my garden is quite exposed because it is on the edge of a hill facing southwest so gets the prevailing winds. I’m trying to create a shelter belt at the end of the garden but it’s not there yet.
I’m in the SE so it’s warm and the spot gets loads of sun, but also gets frost. It’s not a frost pocket but it does freeze when the temp drops.
Would it be a waste of time and energy to try an aprium in this kind of spot?
