    Yes, and about the same amount of sun too @Obelixx. The second one was an experiment to see if it could cope in my alkaline soil, heavily amended with ericaceous compost but it threw up it’s branches in horror immediately.

    Pity, but thanks.  I have one of these in a pot waiting to be planted out and now know there are parts of my garden in won't suit.  Some of the soil contains enough lumps of limestone to constitute a quarry but a good chunk is fertile neutral to acid loam.
    Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.
