Pieres Plant looks sad

Hello I am new to this  forum and would like some advice if possible, we moved in the property about 2yrs ago. It has taken a while but have managed to sort the back garden out from scratch, I bought some Pieres shrubs which I planted but with the snow and now I know I need Ericaceous soil is it possible to dig them out later on and transfer them into patio pots with the soil they need. Any advice would be really appreciated thank you. :(:(:(

Hello, welcome and well done for sorting your garden out.

I love Pieris, but have the wrong soil, so I have two in pots with ericaceous compost. I have small varieties (Katsura and Little Heath) so they are fine in pots. However, some varieties are very large - do you know which ones you have and how big they get? That will determine how big a pot you need. They do best in dappled shade rather than full blazing sun!

I'm not sure what to recommend about WHEN to dig them up - probably best in a few months after they have flowered - but others on here might have more specific advice.
  • Thankyou for your advice on my Pieris plant the name is (Forest Flame) and I love the way the flowers are lily of the valley soo pretty when they come out, but sadly not many on because of the wrong soil in the garden. We only moved about 2miles away from our other property & the garden we had there the Pieris plants thrived so well, and not realised about the difference in the soil. But hey ho we learn by our mistakes.
