Cordyline problems

My 2 outdoor Cordylines' leaves are all turning brown. They are about 6 years old now and 4' tall.They look terrible! They always had some leaves turning brown on the lower half of the plant but this is now all over-what on earth is wrong?

Nothing, it's what they do, just remove the brown leaves

IMHO, they pretty much all look terrible most of the time.
They always remind me of a loo brush.

No brown leaves on mine at the moment, has yours gone completely brown since you took the picture
