Unusual small trees

Hi all.
I've been let down by a garden center on a couple of small trees so I'm hoping you might be able to give me some ideas.
We've just covered our front lawn with shingle (with the exception of a couple of boarders we created). I've got the plants sorted for the beds but wanted 2 small trees (suitable for pots) for either side of the doorway.
I'd like something unusual, I like a bit of drama in my gardens.
Garden is south/east facing.

How big a pot can you afford to get?
How much sun does the area get, full all day or shade at times. If it's full sun are you prepared to water twice daily in summer
Does it have to be a tree or would you consider a shrub or a climber on an obelisk?
Edit. Just read front garden so can you make them theft proof?
I've got some very large pots already just need a small tree to go in them. Front garden (by the door) gets sun all day. I water my gardens twice a day when it's hot anyway.
We've left a petrol lawnmower in the garden overnight and no one stole it... The ring doorbell tends to put people off

I have two small ones in the back garden, they are very pretty when they flower.
Really struggling to find something I really like. Everywhere is either sold out, super expensive or it's not really "wowing" me. Very frustrating
Try instead something like this photinia which has similar colouring but is evergreen and can be clipped, if you must and will do better in a pot as long as the pot is large enough, your provide top quality compost, feed it every spring and keep it adequately watered especially in hot dry spells
