Chilli Plant Pest

Good afternoon all.

I am growing Chillis for the first time. They are currently indoors. Today I noticed a pest on them.

Would anyone be able to advise what it is, and best way to treat it please.

Thanks in advance

Aphids (greenfly). Various insecticides, including the 'soap' type ones, or shaking off if not too many, or knocking off with a water spray. They're very susceptible (the greenfly that is!) to almost anything, but good at coming back from the few survivors.

You might wonder where they've come from indoors. They do sometimes appear as if by magic, but have you got other nearby plants with them on?
  • Thanks for the prompt response. They appear to have ignored all the other plants.

I have read things about Neem oil and Soap combo?

Young seedlings can be damaged by almost anything other than water being sprayed them, so I would recommend physical removal using a soft brush then spraying the soil they have fallen on with slightly soapy water to drown them.  A few may survive and will climb back on but unless you have several dozen seedlings, it's quite manageable to control and eliminate them this way.
A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.
  • Thanks all - Will get spraying!
I imagine this is the first of many HELP posts!
