Drainage help

Hi, currently in the process of building a small sleeper retaining wall and levelling my garden which currently runs away from my house towards a brick wall.
Having started my project the poor drainage of the existing garden has become apparent.
I have my post holes dug as per picture, however after some heavy rain they are heavily flooded.

Does anyone have any drainage solutions? I was thinking about possibly drilling weep holes into the brick wall, as the wall seems to be the problem.

Soil is heavy clay if it helps.

Thanks in advance.

  • No idea why the image is going in upside down. Sorry. Hopefully it gives an idea of what I’m dealing with.

I assume you are no further along since last June.
I can't really add anything to what others suggested in your last posts. As to whether holes in the wall would help I don't know but worth a try as long as you aren't encroaching on someone else's land.
I have seen a lot of  walls with these holes but have never seen any water coming out if them.
As the area you are working on is very compacted that won't help
You might find a raised bed with a tree and shrubs helps or a land drain in front of the bed but you then have to run it to sonewhere.
  • Thanks k67. Yeah last years planning has now went into practise. It was soggy before but not removing the top layer of grass and topsoil the drainage really has become an issue. Thanks for the response.
