Rainwater diverter

Hi, this might be a silly question but I'm complete newbie to gardening so appreciate advice.
I want to grow vegetables, salad and herbs and thinking of getting a waterbutt with a rainwater diverter as I'm on a water meter and really want to keep water cost down, but my downpipe includes pipes from bathroom which I'd like to avoid because I bleach my hair and use bathroom products like limescale remover and bleach so don't want these going in water I use for food.
I've attached a photo and wonder if rainwater diverter can be positioned above my bathroom wastes or is this just not practical?
Thank you for your help

yes youcan fit it above and run the hose down, then run the overlfow down into the drain
    Devon.
  • Thank you hostafan. So I've seen you get a pipe that goes from drainpipe to waterbutt. Does that include an overflow from water butt to drain or is that a self adaptation?

As a child my family had a huge (and I mean huge) water butt that took all the water from the bath and sink in the bathroom. This grey water was used for the garden.
I always assumed that every body did the same but found that this wasn't the case.
Whilst I appreciate what you say about potential problems with chemicals diverting the water....how does that remove the chemicals?
It is great that you are looking into the issue.
