Help needed with succulent

I've had this plant (some kind of aloes, I believe?) for about 9 months and it's grown well and never had any health issues. Recently this orange brown spot appeared on one of the leaves and I'm concerned. The plant is in a window with full sun, I water sparingly every 10 days. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

It's a gasteria which is closely related to the aloes. They like a lot of light but not too much direct sun so that glass sphere is probably concentrating the sun too much for it. I've got an identical one that's in a west facing window and it does very well there with only late afternoon sun. I generally only water mine when the leaves are getting thin and it hardly gets watered at all over the winter. If that sphere doesn't have drainage holes then you're going to have to be extra careful with the watering to avoid root rot or humidity issues in there.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

The Gasteria looks like it's doing fine. Just looks like an old outer leaf coming to the end of its useful life - leaves don't last forever. It it reaches a point where the entire leaf has dried up, then you can remove it. The little thing on the right has some dead lower leaves as well - I don't know what it is, but the dead leaves aren't a problem.

P.S. I'd worry about the 'bowl' environment too, but since you've had it 9 months, that's plenty time for anything to go wrong, and it hasn't!
  • Thanks guys! I guess I won't worry too much then if it doesn't spread to the other leaves. I appreciate the comments!
