Don’t think it’s a storm ... but we do get genuinely p’eed off when folk are coerced into spending large sums of money on something unsuited to their needs.

We’re the ones that have to break the news that it’s the wrong plant in the wrong place and it’ll never work 😢

It’s far better for our emotional well-being to try to steer folk away from mistakes and towards something more suitable than to attempt to mop up the tears afterwards.

We gardeners are a softhearted lot 🥰

Yes, I think that's what convinced me that I must be a gardener  :D

A lot of the things that we grow as houseplants (although not all, by any means) are native to tropical forest-type environments, which is why they are OK in year-round warmth and low-ish light levels, but tend to suffer if they get cold drafts or not enough humidity. Best to try to pick something that will be OK in the position you can provide.

I would just like to put in a good word for the Olive Grove at Oundle. I have always found them helpful.

I would go for Ficus benjamina instead I think.

But you’re an experienced and knowledgeable gardener @BenCotto  ... it does make a difference. 😊
