What to plant

Hi got questions can I put mixed Heather's at base of me acers instead of gravel as the bees love me hether garden also can I put Heather's round me peris and fushias if not what about polyanthus as my Heather's have acid soil and thriving in garden so as acer like acid thought would work .

Also at back me garden I have a woodland area with silver birch trees few daffs snowdrops but love to no what else I can put in area to make to good for me birds ect well I won't a good woodland area but I dont wont to plant any more bulbs tho I have few gnomes hanging in there looking good but need more plants to really look good any help be great I have been told ferns but not sure which I just wont get more birds wildlife in area also one side have buxes hedge in front is all rough tree timings branches off plum tree ect
