Adding compost to raised bed in spring - but fall planted spring veg growing now!

Hello!  I'm a gardener in the states, zone 7a - but I am relatively new to vegetable gardening.  I've learned most of what I know from the gang at Gardeners World!  I have a 4'x12' raised bed for my veg that we built last year.  I planted veg in fall for the early spring harvest (Brussels sprouts, carrots, kale, celery, tatsoi, bok choi, etc.) - and all have already begun to show new growth!  But, my soil level in the raised bed is low... too low in my opinion, and I want to add compost to the entire bed.  However, what I should do about the veg growing in there now?  Should I try to lift them to the new soil level as I add compost?  Do I only try to add compost to the areas that aren't currently growing? Should I leave well enough alone?  I hope the experienced gardeners here can lend me some advice.  Thank you!  Happy Spring!  ~Mary from Maryland

I think adding the compost is fine so long as you are not burying your crops. If you are adding quite a bit just add less around the autumn plantings.

The risk of lifting your plants is that they don't take it too well and bolt,  especially if you are already near early spring as it is here.
