Can anyone help me identify this shrub/tree in my garden.
It has obviously been pollarded in the past the leaves are coming out lime green and the flowerbuds are peachy in colour. The only flower that is out at the moment is pink variegated and about 2cm across and has lots of petals like an old fashioned rose

Looks like a Japanese quince to me - Chaenomeles japonica

Looks like one of the forms of Japanese quince. The original is coral/red in flower

The flowers are like quince, but my previous ones in another garden were always thorny and this is devoid of thorns

Some chaenomeles such as Scarlet Storm and Pink Storm are thornless. No doubt others too.
