Pine, fir or other seedling?

We've got this tiny little sprout growing under a hawthorn hedge. The seedling is only a few centimetres high. I'm assuming it's some sort of fir or spruce, but anyone got any ideas?

  • Could be. None in our garden but certainly some not far.

    Might have to rescue it and see!

    It's Yew.
    We have several Yew trees and get lots of seedlings like that.

    Definitely ... we used to have yew and had just the same seedlings. 😊 

    Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
