What is this mystery shrub??

Can anyone help me identify this large , rather straggly shrub please. It has large oval leaves which curl onwards at the edges. Leaves seem to be arranged in little trios at the end of a stem?!

More than likely the above ; a straggly specimen of Cyt.battandieri , or Pineapple Broom . needs a bit of TLC !! ;)
  • Thank you!! If it’s an pineapple broom, would I be right in thinking I need to wait until it’s flowered before pruning?!

Just looking at the framework, the angle of the branches and the bark it made me think it was very similar to Euonymus Europaeus but really hard to tell.

the foliage, such as it is, seems trifoliate. Might be the angle though.

  • Here’s a leafy close up if that helps
