Chinese artichokes

We managed to get some chinese artichokes in January. Ground still far too cold to plant out but when we decided to plant them out in Feb they had shrivelled up a lot.
Still we planted them out and we wait and see whta happens.
Has anybody else grown them and had success?

Grew them in a pot in my last garden in Belgium because they can become rampant if you leave any in the ground.  Nurtured them, watered them, cropped them.

Teeny and nothing exceptional in flavour or texture so never tried again.   Other gardeners I know who've tried them came to the same conclusion.

I'd rather grow Jerusalem artichokes for both flavour and yield.
