Old shop bought compost

I’ve heard that it is not advised to use bags of shop bought compost that have been sitting around- something to do with the ph. Is it really that bad? Could I use some bags bought last summer to pot on seedlings? Thanks in advance!

If its been kept under cover it's not a problem. The problem is if it gets wet and stays soggy over winter.
  • Thanks @fidgetbones
Luckily it has been kept dry in the greenhouse

I use it too. Often kept outside under a tarp weighed down with bricks, if I haven't enough space in the shed. It always seems fine to me.
