Replant beech hedge

We have just moved into a property with an established beech hedge. Is there anything evergreen that we can plant in and amongst the beech to add volume and give us all year round privacy and noise reduction?

Could you plant more Beech if it is too sparse? Or clip in perhaps July (after checking for nesting birds in which case leave it) to thicken up and retain more leaves? You may find the ground very full of roots between the trees.

Thanks Shane, it's more the fact that we would like something evergreen in there if possible, we can definitely try clipping though.
